Skatetar Customs builds instruments and hardware from skateboard decks that already lived a life.About ten years ago, the first skatetar was built as a collaboration with pro skater Tony Molina, during a time when music, skateboarding, and DIY culture were all colliding. I was Playing in the band Swamp Grass, surrounded by skateboarders and musicians, a few decks were turned into slide guitars and played live on stage at our shows that experiment became a philosophy raw, loud, and unpolished.Today, Skatetar Customs builds custom slide guitars, hand-made slides, knobs, and one-off hardware, all created per deck, not per model. There are no templates. No shortcuts. No production line. Every piece is cut, shaped, and finished by hand using reclaimed skateboard decks and raw materials. There’s no uniform design.
And no two builds are ever the same.Skatetar slide guitars are stripped-down and aggressive built for players who care more about feel, tone, and expression more than visual perfection. The scars stay. The layers show. The history matters.Skatetar Customs exists somewhere between skate culture, blues, rock, and DIY instrument building where worn decks become tools for noise, tone, and expression.Built by hand.
Played by feel.
No rules.
